Bought, Little Weed did, yet another cube. This was because the new cube had great reviews from a reputable company, and was supposed to be fast. He was not disappointed. The new cube, a Weilong GTS from MoYu, came with 2 plastic cube stands, convenient for displaying the cube. Or are they really just cube stands?
The cube stands are in a light shade of blue plastic. The cube sits flat into the stand and looks quite nice. I suppose they are nicer than simple plastic packaging. These stands make the box packaging larger and more imposing, an advantage in marketing in stores, where they would have to compete with other cubes. It looks nicer than the older cube packaging.
This cube stand also has some smart design. At the base of the cube stand, where the cube is inset, it is not flat. There are 4 sloped surfaces here, allowing the cube to only touch the stand on its cube edges, and not on the faces and stickers. This puts less wear on the cube faces. The cube is still solidly supported on all 4 corners. The air space also allows the cube to breath, so moisture on the cube face, especially in hot and humid countries, can evaporate. The bottom of the cube base can be opened so you can put paper currency, coins or a flat key in there. There is about 1 cm of height for storage in the cube stand base. At the bottom of the base has 2 finger indentations to help you open the case.

That is a lot of design for a simple cube stand. I do appreciate the manufacturer for putting in so much thought into their product. I have always been proud that China has excelled in the design of cubes, and that they are worldwide leaders in this small niche industry. Great design, great manufacturing, great product.
