This is my first time traveling abroad.
I am an experienced elder. Before I transferred to the space station, on Earth I almost never left Shijiazhuang (a city in North-East China, south of Beijing), until the beginning of this year, when my work unit group went to New York City for vacation. It really was an eye opener. New York City is an ancient city, but within the ancient there is also the new. As my tour guide said, “If you want to feel the future and modernization, you should go to Asia and Europe, but if you want to experience historical change, to feel the afterglow of an old empire, to revisit the vibrancy of a past glory, it is best to go to North America.” Standing in the middle of the old square, I felt, at that time and that exact moment, I could not help but think about the old-fashioned color film movie masterpieces, written in history books. Here’s a classic quote: “Money or me, which is more important to you?” Old #7 (senior male, 7th child in the family), Low Orbit on the Yellow River Station, April 15, 2098 |
