RCA RFR322 Fridge 3.2 Dead after only 5 months

We humans need to do much better than this. My neighbour bought an RCA RFR322 student fridge, 3.2 cubic foot, Made in China, from Walmart. After a mere 5 months is stopped working. The manufacture of appliances such as a fridge takes a lot of natural resources, and if the appliance dies shortly after not only is it a waste of money but also of natural resources. We, as a species, need to stop making these mistakes.

It looks nice enough, with its stainless steel door and all black panels all round, but it died after only 5 months. RCA brand, imported to Canada by Curtis International, this fridge is obvious junk if it died so quickly.

The RCA brand fridge is actually a GE, but since this is Canada may not be GE. on the exterior it seems well designed, with glass shelves in the main compartment and a pop can holder in the door. The freezer section is the only thing becomes actively cold, which should then cool down the rest of the fridge.

Pure junk and a waste of money. This is why I really hesitate to buy Chinese products. Yes, they are initially cheap, but they quickly break and need replacement. How is that cheap? I have been trying to find warranty info and cannot find anything. Everyone wants to sell you this fridge but does not mention the warranty. Further, there is no info about repair. These appliances are throw away. Found the user manual from Curtis International, but there is no mention of a warranty. There is no warranty.

I will be using it for an outdoor box so that in the winter we can have extra space for refrigeration. I will add a lock to keep the critters out. The power cord was removed. The freezer shelf and temperature control module was removed to make the space larger. I raised the fridge up on some wood so that in the winter it would not be blocked by snow. Hopefully I can make some use of it.
