Ontario G1 road test vs Class G2 road test: Are they the same?

Little Weed is of the age where he is considering getting his G1 license, or Learner’s Permit. What is confusing is the Ontario Ministry of Transportation terminology. In fact they seem to be both the same.

The minimum practice period for G1 drivers before they can take the G1 road test is :

12 Months Without Driver’s Training : You are not eligible to take the G1 road test until 12 months after you have passed your written test unless you have taken an approved drivers ed course…

The Full G Licence

Before you can get a full G licence you must have your G2 licence for at least 12 months (or 8 months with driver’s training) AND pass the G2 road test. After successfully passing the G2 road test, you are now a full G licence holder and are older than 21 you can enjoy driving on Ontario without restrictions. If you are 21 or younger there are some restrictions. source

This means that there is a G1 road test as well as a G2 road test.

Yet the fees page does not mention these tests, but uses other terms:

Class G1 licence package
The cost includes a knowledge test, a Class G2 road test (to earn your G2 licence), and a five-year licence.
$158.25
Class G2 road test (to earn a Class G2 licence) $52.50
Class G road test (to earn a Class G licence) $89.25

It looks like what is called the G1 road test on one page is called the Class G2 road test on the fees page.

The G2 road test on one page is called the Class G road test on the fees page.

How confusing is that?
