Vintage Paramount sewing machine: How to fill the bobbin
Morag wrote me to ask how to fill the bobbin of her vintage Imperial sewing machine model 703. I could not find a photo of a front facing Imperial 703, but found a similar Paramount. Nevertheless filling the bobbin is common among most sewing machines, though the parts might be in slightly different places.
Filling the bobbin is necessary for any sewing machine. The bobbin needs to be filled with even and the right amount of thread tension, or your sewing line will come out uneven. Otherwise filling the bobbin is pretty easy.
This IP address came up on my usual log processing as unusual. Usually an IP address lookup returns a single host name and not multiples. All these host names are associated with the IP 193.42.159.25 United Computer Systems, Sweden. It is a busy IP, with 25 hostnames, so very unusual. It also tried to break my login security. In January I had written about a Chinese lawyer Xie Yang 谢阳, who was tortured by Chinese police for 6 months, and has been in jail for over 1.5 years so far. Because his story has been widely published in the Western press, the Chinese government has started a a propaganda campaign against him and his lawyers, alleging Xie Yang’s story of torture was all made up by his lawyers, and is, as a Trumpism, “fake news”. His lawyer Chen Jiangang (陈建刚) has tried to refute this. I’m unsure about his other lawyer Liu Zhengqing (刘正清). New York Times

Visiting China is always exciting. the country is steeped in its own unique history and has treasures not known in the rest of the world. It is very odd, and disconcerting, when China’s architects blatantly copy world famous foreign landmarks. This is not a new phenomenon and has been going on for many a decade. The most recent case is a copy of London’s famous Tower Bridge, now copied and even embellished in Suzhou.
Want you do, to go to a concert, but just after the supposed start time for ticket sales, all the tickets are gone. You, again, have lucked out. Minutes later these tickets are all available on reseller sites for double the price. It really does sound like a scam. While the US just enacted a federal law, here in Ontario we are just starting the investigation phase. I hope that we can adopt something as strong as the US in order to keep an even keel with bot technology and online shopping safe.
Four IPs scraped my site in identical ways: Fetch the most recent document, then scrape parts of the rest of the site. The IP changes, and they repeat. They fetch the same identical document, but then scrape different parts of my site but only for images.
I’ll keep my eye on such activity and see if I further pin down something more definite.

Subway Canada’s chicken, raised without antibiotics, also found to contain only 53% chicken DNA. The rest is soy DNA. Our family will not be eating there again.
Loved their cold cut subs, I do, but this is not the first but the second time that I have seen deceit from Subway. It is time for our family to no longer eat at this fast food chain. This time the CBC researched various fast food chains for their chicken sandwiches. Even accounting for additives such as spices, most chicken came out at 88% chicken DNA. Subway’s oven roasted chicken came out at 53% and their chicken fingers came out at 43%. The remaining DNA was soy. Soy. Really? That is just fraudulent.
This botnet’s purpose is to add referrer links to your Google Analytics, in the hopes that the webmaster or site owner will click on the link. They will then be exposed to an internet virus. Please do not click on any referrer spam link, as it is dangerous. I always copy the link and paste it into Google search first, to see if the site is dangerous.

There is a marked difference between a company policy and their practice. Companies love to post their policies touting their honesty. Fair enough, but more importantly, when a customer wishes to exercise the policy, does the store truly stand behind the propaganda? Today I am happy to say that Price Chopper Canada, part of the Sobey’s chain, did uphold their Scanner Price Accuracy Code, at the cost of $4.99CAD, or the price of a 500 sheet of paper napkins. I thank Price Chopper Canada for their honesty.
Brilliant, is Git. GIT is a staging and deployment process and tool, for those working in a team simultaneously on the same project. While it is a bit daunting in the beginning, after you use it the process becomes second nature. I’m only starting, so it is appropriate for me to document my learning process, which might help others.
While git is used mostly for software development, where each team member can work on code simultaneously, it really facilitates team collaboration of any project. Two people can work on the same document, individually commit their work, and send it back to the server for someone else to approve and then merge.
