She phoned me in a tizzy: Someone had used her credit card to purchase an Air Canada ticket for $375CAD, and the flight was leaving in a couple of days. What to do? Firstly, is to calm down and not have a cow. To be safe, check your credit cards. The next step is to scrutinize the email to see if there are some illegitimate pieces of info in it. Is this really a risk or just a spam/phishing scam?
Here is her email:

With a sharp pop the stove went, those of us in the kitchen grew wary as the strange smell of something burnt but uncommon wafted in the air. Our electric stove, boiling water in a kettle on a small burner, had hurt itself. The burner was dead, the kettle had a hole burnt through it, with water now flooding the overflow pan under the burner. After some electrical diagnostic work we found it best to look for a new range, range being a stove-top and an oven underneath. Gas ranges are new to us, so there was the usual searching for info, visiting stores and eventually the purchase. Here are some hints and tips on buying an economy gas range in Toronto, Canada.
Trolls are everywhere on the internet where there is social interaction. A troll is anyone who participates in a internet discussion solely to provoke a negative reaction from others. They are not only disruptive and anti-social but can really clamp down on the free flowing discussion. With the anonymity of the internet this seems to unlock the nasty side of human beings. Even the venerated Roman Catholic Church’s Pope Francis has had experiences with trolls.

Fanboy, I am, on the Aquaclear (AC) line of aquarium power filters, specifically the AC20 to AC70 line. Not only are they reliable and serviceable, they are very flexible and easy to tailor to your specific tank needs. While there are some issues with noise, if you do regular filter maintenance you will be rewarded with stellar performance. There are a few customizations you can do that will make these filters even more flexible.
Telecommuncations have come a long way in a short period of time. Smart phones are near ubiquitous in society, and as common as a wallet or purse in public. How people have become addicted to carrying and using smart phones, I do not know, but in our quest for permanent and persistent connectivity, we inadvertently agree to give up some of our privacy. Scary it is, but the writing is on the wall and near inevitable unless governments step in to prevent this. Given that people are freely looking for phone connectivity, I do not believe that such tracking by stores or any other agencies is immoral. Shocking, yes, but not immoral. Each person has the ability and means to turn off their phone when walking around. If they do not then this is their personal choice.
Hate it, I do, when a product fails before I believe it should. I have ranted about such products here before and I stand by my rants. Specifically you see products fail mere months after the warranty has expired, seemingly on queue for you to purchase yet another replacement. The old one goes into the garbage and then landfill, and the environment takes an unnecessary penalty for our stupidity. Clearly this should not be. I purposely buy products that last a long time, if I can, and take measures to ensure they do last.
Moving from Rogers Cable to OTA TV necessitated the purchase of a new digital TV. We chose the 32″ Toshiba 32L1350UC because it was big enough and still able to fit into our existing multimedia cabinet.Overall the TV works remarkably well and is of high quality. There are a couple odd glitches that I have noticed.
I really wanted to get a larger TV, as the 32″ ones looked quite small in the showroom. I measured the distance from our couch to the TV and brought a measuring tape to the showroom. We measured out this distance to the TV. Surprisingly my kids said a 32″ was big enough, and there was no need to spend more money.
Saw it coming, I did, through my incessant weather forecast watching here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Warned, we were, by the sages of climate. Still we really did not know the gravity of the situation, nor that we were to lose power for 18 hours. As we are always prepared, this matters little, because we know where everything necessary is located and we have done this before. It is worthwhile reflecting on what worked and what needs improvement, so that the next one, an inevitable event, really, will be that much more fulfilling.
Imperial sewing machine Model 562 for sale on Kijiji in Stratford, Ontario, Canada
Since I became the self-appointed custodian of Imperial sewing machine information on the Internet I have had a slew of great posts and comments that have helped a lot of people with their old machines. This is how the internet should work: To reach out and help others learn what you know. A reader has sent me her user manual for the Imperial sewing machine, model 562, and I thank her for her contribution.
In my youth I thought that if I studied earnestly, worked hard and was honest I would charge forth with a great career, family and life. This is what I was told by all and I believed them. The last 10 years here in Toronto has shown me otherwise. I am a racialized Canadian living in Toronto. Raised and educated (multiple degrees in computer science and business) in Toronto, Canada, ready and willing to work, I find it difficult to get a break back into full time employment.
