Jeld-Wen Patio Door: Install, Comments and not Recommended

This Sunview Victorian patio door came branded as a Jeld-Wen door, bought at Home Depot in Canada. It came with no instructions nor hardware from Home Depot. Further Jeld -Wen customer service refused to send us the mounting hardware.

My neighbour recently bought a patio door from Home Depot, and had asked me to help him install it. In fact, this Jeld-Wen patio door was the most expensive they carried. I would not have bought this without a good amount of research, but he is different. The install did not go very smoothly, and the end result was sub-par. After contacting the manufacturer I was left with a negative view of the company and their service. I do not recommend you buy a Jeld-Wen door.

Dual Boot Puppy Linux Tahr 6.0.5 : Install to Disk

Puppy Linux Tahr 5.0.6 fits into 1G of disk space and runs well on only 500mb of RAM on an old XP box.

After playing with Puppy Linux, both the Slacko and Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr version, on CD, I decided to install Puppy Linux Tahr 6.0.5 as a dual boot alongside Win XP. The instructions online are not crystal clear to me, and left me somewhat puzzled, stomach ill at ease. Let me explain the process.

Puppy Linux can be used quite readily from your CD or USB stick. You need to boot up and then configure. I decided to dual boot install it on an old Win XP box, one with only 500mb ram.

Ubuntu 16.04 install WebScarab

Here I am with some idle time, found a hacking article on G&M, which led me to some pretty scary hacking tools (malware creation tools) which led me to nikto which led me to WebScarab. Yes, confusing, but I am trying to stay White Hat.

That said, I could not find much on how to install WebScarab. It is older, with no clear install instructions, other than here’s the zip file, install it. WebScarab is written in java, so you can run it from Terminal. I could not figure out how to put it into a launcher.

Terk MFTV1A Indoor Antenna: Disassembly

Terk MFTV1A Omnidirectional OTA TV antenna. I will use it outdoors on my antenna mast

My existing “Over The Air” broadcast TV antenna, an Antennas Direct DB4e, has a range of about 60º, but my house here in Toronto, Canada is situated with TV stations in the range of 70-80º. However I point my antenna, either I drop stations from the east in Buffalo, or west in Hamilton. Smack in the middle of my range are the overly strong stations of Toronto, which can overpower weaker stations. I am attempting to use a Terk MFTV1A indoor omnidirectional antenna, installed outdoors on my antenna mast, to increase my antenna range to beyond 60º.

Sears Kenmore 30″ Gas Stove: Review

Kenmore®/MD 30'' Freestanding Self-Clean Gas Range in White, from Sears. It works very well.

Kenmore®/MD 30” Freestanding Self-Clean Gas Range in White, from Sears. It works very well.

Wwe made the plunge into natural gas and bought a white Kenmore 30″ freestanding self-clean gas stove from Sears. Sears has some crazy numbering scheme so the stove is Item #: 223 674 132 10 as well as 790-74132. We had it delivered, and I had to get an outside contractor to install it. Before I bought it I found very few reviews of these stoves. After 3 months of use here is my review, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Bell Fibe 15/10 Review, Scarborough, ON, Canada

After 11 years with Rogers we pulled the internet plug and are trying Bell. Yes, there have been problems with the Bell installation, but if you know Toronto, Rogers and Bell you should have expected problems, and I did. In summary Bell Fibe does work, sort of, but my upload speed is no more than .7 MBps, 7% of what they told me I would get. There is also nothing I can do increase the upload speed. Apparently because I live 1.2 km from the central office the upload speed cannot increase, yet they did not tell me this when I signed up. I have been a Bell landline phone customer for 15 years, so they should be fully aware of my location.

Fender Fuse Software Review

Fender Mustang I guitar amp is a modeling amp with 24 presets. Installing the Fender Fuse software is difficult but worthwhile because it allows you to change your preset amps

Fender Mustang I guitar amp is a modeling amp with 24 presets. Installing the Fender Fuse software is difficult but worthwhile because it allows you to change your preset amps

Growing pains, I say. It will get better, surely. This review will cover the Fender Fuse software package (v2.1.0.8) that is used with Fender Mustang and G-Dec guitar amplifiers. I have installed the Fender Fuse on my PC in order to configure a family friend’s Fender Mustang I. The Mustang is a versatile amp, but came too heavily rock for her tastes. She wanted some acoustic. The Good: After considerable toil I was able to install the software, download different amps to my PC and then store them on the Mustang. The bad: The software install process is overly onerous, required me to download a couple of other Microsoft packages, and is prone to crash. Summary: A very versatile software package and amp, but needs more stability.
