You need to fit in, somewhat, to live in harmony with society. This is true. Even those that are anti-social will form groups, of which there will be rules that govern who is part of the group and what constitutes acceptable bahaviour. I believe all societal systems run this way. It is part of who we are.
This is not to say that conformity is a bad thing. Without conformity there would be no way to drive down the street and not get hit by a car. Drivers, pedestrians and other users of the road need to conform to the road usage system, namely the Highway Traffic Act. We have laws that govern these things. Those that scofflaw the rules can hurt other people and get punished for their behaviour. In the name of safety this is good.
Little Weed has decided to raise goldfish, and has dragged me in for technical support. I have not kept fish since I was his age, so know almost nothing. It has been an interesting learning experience, delving into a subject matter that is completely foreign to me. Still, as a quick study in anything, I am learning fast. Research has always been my strong point, and keeping an aquarium is no exception. Here are some hints and tips. Once set up an aquarium is really not much work to maintain and it really does a good job of humidifying your house!
From a practical point of view, eating bugs should be a given. However here in Toronto, Canada, we as a society are squeamish about the subject. Recently I had the opportunity to try some worm larvets for myself. They really were not bad but not tasty, really. They actually had no taste at all. What is the point? Bugs really rule the world and are a good source of protein. If we ate more bugs we would reduce the dependence on red and chicken meat, which requires lots of the earth’s resources. We could be kinds to the earth by eating more bugs. The Little Weed tried one for shock value and also said there was very little taste.
Always very beautiful, the season’s first snowfall is a joyous ocassion here in Toronto, Canada. This year the first snowfall came very late, today, December 27 2012. It started last night, but when we woke up we had over 10cm of snow.

Note a couple of things in the photo. Today was garbage day, so we have green bins for compostable (not yet picked up) and grey bins for non-recyclable garbage. These have already been picked up. The black blob in the treetop of the middle tree is a squirrel nest. This is where they hibernate over the winter. There is a streetlight on the left of the photo, which goes on in the night.
Upgrades to WordPress are important to keep hackers from destroying your site and your index status on Google Search. After upgrading to WordPress 3.5 there were some preexisting files that should also be deleted. These now unused files can be hijacked by hackers to damage your site. It is best to delete or move these files from your WP directories.
Iovei I thought “What the Hay?”. I booted my dual boot machine with Xubuntu 12.04 and all was peachy. Tried a large update with Update manager, then powered down as normal. The next time I boot up my mouse was dead and there was no connectivity to the internet! What to do? At least I could get the session started, as normal but sans mouse. I plugged in a USB mouse and it auto detected. Back to Update Manager, which then did a “Partial Update”. This fixed itself, and now all is back to normal.
Friend Dave had ripped one of the wires on his Sony earbud headphones, MDR-EX38iP, so I decided to fix it. With the help of the Internet he now has a headset back in service.
The wires on these headphones are really very thin and fragile. There is no apparent physical shielding between the signal and ground wires, and twisting like wires together did not get the cut off earbud working. Luckily my friends at Instructables gave me hints to the solution.
We attended the Toronto Buskerfest on August 23 2012, on the Thursday because it was the cooler of the 4 day festival. I think we should have not attended the first day, because many of the acts seemed to not have arrived into Toronto yet. There was little juggling or unicycling, though still lots of comedy.

To be close in thinking to oldsters that have lived through the Depression is uncommon. Yet I see this happening today. Youth and the tail end of the Baby Boomers cannot find work, yet the Baby Boomers are still hammering the youth saying that if you persevere and work hard you will get that job.
