There’s really not much to the lat pulldown rope, sometimes called a triceps rope. A lat pulldown rope attaches to a strength training cable machine, high up, so you can pull downward and exercise your latissimus dorsi, or lower back muscles. Common exercises include the lat pulldown and face pulls. It is just a rope with an attachment point in the middle. Here’s how I made mine.
My neighbour’s large maple tree at the front of their house was growing threateningly close to the front second story window. Pruning of the limb was in order. As this limb was quite large there was a discussion about calling in a Canadian or Chinese arborist. The Canadian arborist would come in with a large cherry-picker style truck and crew, and complete the job safely. Of course they would be much more expensive. The Chinese crew they chose came in with a ladder, rope and a small electric chainsaw. At least they had some climbing equipment and safety harness.
Skipping rope, or jumping rope is both fun and healthy. Making a rope that can be well maintained can reduce the cost and increase the endurance of your rope.
___With these instructions you can make a plastic linked skipping rope that can last you a lifetime. Any plastic polyethylene links that are worn out can be easily and inexpensively replaced. The handles are simple loops of rope that are easily looped round the hand, so the rope cannot be accidentally dropped or “let go” while skipping. A 25′ community skipping rope should cost around $8.50CAD.
